AN ANALYSIS OF SOCIAL CONFLICT FACED BY THE MAIN CHARACTER IN “THE BLIND SIDE” MOVIE.

Abstract
In this thesis, the writer was interested in analyzing the social conflict faced by the main character in “The Blind Side” movie. In detail, the purposes of this study are (1) to find out the social conflicts of the main character in “The Blind Side” movie, (2) to find out the causes of the main character’s social conflicts in
“The Blind Side” movie, and (3) to find out the solutions of the main character’s social conflicts in “The Blind Side” movie.
This study used objective approach in doing the analysis because the writer did not need to study the aouthor’s life. The object of this study was the movie entitled The Blind Side. In this study, the writer tried to analyze Michael Oher’s social conflicts. The data were obtained from some dialogues and pictures that were related to Michael Oher’s social conflicts.
The result of this study showed that the social conflicts found in “The Blind Side” were (1) the social conflict between Michael Oher and Tony Hamilton’s was caused by human needs and the solution was avoiding , (2) the social conflict between Michael Oher and Teachers at Wingate Cristian School was was caused by human needs and the solution was collaborating, (3) the social conflict between Michael Oher and his classmate was caused by society relationship and the solution was accomodating, (4) the social conflict between Michael Oher and Bert Cotton was caused by society relationship and the solution was collaborating, (5) the social conflict between Michael Oher and Jocelyn Granger was caused by transformation conflict and the solution was avoiding, (6) the social conflict between Michael Oher and Leigh Anne Touhy was caused by principle of negoitation and the solution was collaborating, and (7) the social conflict between Michael Oher and Bad Guys was caused by as society relationship and the solution was avoiding.
In conclusion, Michael Oher faced many problems in his life. He was unsocialable person that caused by the differences between black race and white race. Meanwhile, he often avoided the problems, but if he started to believe in someone, he would be collaborating with that person to solve the problems.
