Here are the top three stories in Strongsville today:
- Strongsville City Schools has added new security measures for the 2022-2023 school year. According to the district, each school door will be supervised by an adult during arrival and dismissal. The district is also considering additional security and safety training through the Strongsville Police Department. The added security is a direct response to the Uvalde, Texas mass school shooting that occurred earlier this year. (cleveland.com)
- The Strongsville community has set up GoFundMe campaigns for the three individuals involved in the tragic crash that occurred on Sunday. Davion Flanagan and Dominic Russo were killed during the crash. A GoFundMe campaign has been created for Flanagan with a goal of $30,000. A GoFundMe campaign for Russo has been created with a goal of $25,000. Raised funds will be used to support their families. 17-year-old Mackenzie Shirilla was life-flighted to Metro Health Medical Center to receive treatment for her injuries. A GoFundMe campaign with a goal of $75,000 has been set up for Shirilla to help cover her extensive medical expenses. (Fox 8)
- Cuyahoga County has officially launched a new utility and microgrid project. The county hopes that the project will attract high-tech, climate-friendly companies to the region. The project will likely be a public-private partnership. The county hopes to hire a utility operator by the end of 2022 for the project. (Bond Buyer)
